cleanup: migrate from re.escape to stringutil.reescape This has consistent behavior on Python 2.7, 3.6, and 3.7 and has the benefit of probably being a little faster. Mercurial

Basic install:

$ make            # see install targets
$ make install    # do a system-wide install
$ hg debuginstall # sanity-check setup
$ hg              # see help

Running without installing:

$ make local      # build for inplace usage
$ ./hg --version  # should show the latest version
